Breathalyzer for the drinker and Textalyzer for the texter. Technology can be a wonderful thing or not? Law enforcement will soon have a device the can help apprehend motorist who text and drive. The Textalyzer will allow and officer to quickly check if a cellphone has been used before a crash. Once plugged into a person phone the textalyzer will be able read and indicate if the motorist was texting, emailing, surfing the web or otherwise using his or her cellphone. Would you as a driver consider this to be and infringement of your privacy or do you believe such enforcement is needed to keep our roads safer.

Some stats: General Cell Phone Statistics. The National Safety Council reports that cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year. Nearly 330,000 injuries occur each year from  accidents caused by texting while driving. 1 out of every 4 car accidents in the United States is caused by texting and driving.
